Ils envoient, ils enroulent, ils dépotent. Quatre instruments entre des mains amicales, agiles, précises et chaudes, avec ce tremblement particulier: intensément vivantes. La voix, deux guitares, un orgue hammond, une batterie – le touché du feeling en aura, l’anglais en lyrics. Sur presque toutes les scènes du coin et parfois bien plus loin, on trouve des traces vieilles de dix ans, mais encore fraîches et palpitantes. Elles vibrent du trauma: un rock hybride, tentaculaire, cultivant les rituels poétiques et sulfureux de l’esprit vintage, suintant le calvaire adoré des initiations existentielles. La bande de potes ne marche pas à la séduction. C’est franc dans ton ventre, plaqué sur ton tympan, ça colle et ça tire, ça frappe et ça embrasse, avec gaillardise et finesse. Un art de la composition cultivé en groupe qui aime ouvrir ses pores à de multiples influences et ose inventer des assemblages inattendus, des complexités exigeantes – par goût, par pur plaisir. Y a une joie diabolique de casser de la note dans cette machine à titres jouissifs qu’on écoute le fessier entre mille chaises, le visage grimaçant de mille petites morts.

And Still trauma shaking : a tentacular hybrid rock music, feeding the poetical and sulfurous rituals of vintage spirit, sweating the since ever-loved existential initiations’ nightmare. It’s straight from the guts, stuck to your ear-drum and it shoots, hits & caresses finely with jollity. An collective art of composition , which appreciates opening its pores to various influences and dares creating unexpected combinations , demanding complexities – just for pure pleasure. There’s a nasty joy to break some musical notes of this climaxing song machine which can be listened to, sitting on a thousand chairs with a thousand lethal grimaces on your face.
L’histoire du groupe
Le groupe est né des cendres de son ancienne formation, alors appelé Drama. Formé en 2004, celui-ci sort un premier album en 2006 du nom de “A morning after…” dont l’une des chansons sera repérée et régulièrement diffusée sur les ondes de la radio Couleur 3. Par la suite s’enchaînent de nombreux concerts principalement en Suisse romande et France voisine.
En 2009, Drama devient The Crags après un changement dans la formation du groupe puis publie la même année un 12 titres éponyme. Cette nouvelle étape est suivie par de nombreux concerts dont le Montreux Jazz Festival 2010 (Music in the park),Festival Rock en Stock 2010 (Pas-de-Calais), un concert à Londres, le Festival Balélec 2011 ainsi qu’une diffusion régulière sur Couleur 3 et une session sur “Musicomax” (émission musicale sur la Radio Télévision Suisse).
En 2012, le groupe sort un nouveau EP 4 titres intitulé “Loola Loola!” sous forme de vinyle. La version téléchargeable de ce nouvel opus se retrouvera également sur certaines plateformes telles que Bandcamp, iTunes ou Amazon mp3. En juin 2014 sort un nouvel EP sous forme de CD, ” The universal part of love” qui constitue la suite de son prédécesseur. Celui-ci inclut les quatre titres du disque “Loola Loola!” combinés avec 6 nouvelles chansons, enregistrés chez Rec Studio à Genève en avril de la même année.
À cette occasion, un clip est tourné pour la chanson “Barrel of a gun” ; un single de l’album qui ne tardera pas à se retrouver en rotation sur les ondes de la radio Couleur 3 dès la sortie du CD. La publication de ce nouveau disque donne lieu à une série de concerts, dont plusieurs festivals, notamment le Caribana Festival (le groupe partageant l’affiche ce soir-là avec des groupes tels que Queens of the stone age, Miles kane, kodaline) ainsi que le festival des Mardisablés.
En attendant la sortie d’un nouvel album en pleine écriture, une nouvelle chanson intitulée “Please, sniff the air” est enregistrée en juin 2015 et publiée fin août de la même année, accompagnée de son clip sur Youtube, gratuitement téléchargeable sur les plateformes usuelles d’écoute.
A la fin du mois de septembre 2017, le groupe revient sur le devant de la scène avec un nouvel album, “Overgrown, composé de onze titres totalement inédits. Cet opus est enregistré au mois d’avril de la même année et paraît sous la forme d’un vinyle 33 tours ainsi qu’au format cd. La sortie de cet album coïncide également avec le début de la collaboration du groupe avec le label indépendant genevois Urgence Disk, lequel contribue aussi à cette parution. Deux singles extraits de ce nouvel album, “Artefact”et “Frequency”, feront l’objet de clips, diffusés sur Youtube le mois précédent.
The band rose from the ashes of its previous line-up, then called Drama. Formed in 2004, the band published a first album in 2006 named A morning after…, from which one of its songs was spotted and regularly broadcast on local Swiss radio station Couleur 3. From that point, the band started gigging on regular bases, mainly in the French speaking part of Switzerland and nearby France.
In 2009, “Drama” became “The Crags” after a member change in the band and recorded a new twelve song LP the same year. This new step was followed by numerous live performances, including the Montreux Jazz Festival 2010 (Music in the park), Rock en Stock 2010 Festival (Pas-de-Calais, Northern France), a gig in London, the 2011 Balélec Festival and also regular airplay on Swiss radio couleur 3, leading to a TV performance on musical program “Musicomax”, on Swiss national television station RTS.
In 2012, the band published a new 4 song EP named Loola Loola ! on vinyl format. The downloadable version of this record became available in different ways through Bandcamp, iTunes or Amazon mp3.
In June 2014, a new EP was recorded and published, The universal part of love which constituted the following up to the previous EP, under CD format this time. This one included the four songs of the Loola Loola record, completed with six new songs, recorded at Rec studios in Geneva, in April of the same year.
A musical video clip was shot on that occasion for the song “barrel of a gun”; a single which also got regular airplay on Swiss radio stations once the CD was released. The publicizing of this new record led to a series of concerts, including festivals, such as Caribana Festival (whom which the band shared the bill that evening with bands such as Queens of the stone age, Miles Kane, Kodaline) and the Mardisablés Festival.
During the writing process of a new album, a new song named “Please, sniff the air”[ was recorded in June 2015 and released at the end of August of the same year, along with its musical video clip on YouTube, for free via the usual musical platforms.
By the end of September 2017, the band strikes again with a new album, “Overgrown”, which includes eleven new songs. This one is recorded in April of the same year and comes out as a 7″ LP and cd also. The outcome of the new record is simultaneously the start of the band’s collaboration with Geneva’s indie record label Urgence Disk, which also contributes to this publishing. Two singles from the new album, “Artefact” and “Frequency”, were published the previous month on Youtube along with a musical clip.
